Driving The New Aston Martin AMR-C01 On An $80,000 Racing
Driving The New Aston Martin AMR-C01 On An $80,000 Racing Simulator

Lower yourself into the one-piece carbon fiber seat, feet landing on pedals deep within the carbon monocoque, hands coming to rest on a carbon-fronted steering wheel festooned with buttons, switches and dials surrounding a large digital display. Pull back on a carbon clutch paddle, select first gear and slowly release the clutch. Try not to stall as the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 racer cruises down the pit lane and out onto an empty Brand Hatch GP circuit.
So far, so real. But this, as you can see from the image above, is a simulator. The handmade carbon fiber monocoque houses a high-end gaming PC and features a 48-inch curved Samsung QHD display that entirely fills your peripheral vision. The seating position, although adjustable to cater for children and adults alike, is shared with the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar.
The Aston Martin AMR-C01 is the work of AM works racing driver Darren Turner and his company Curv Racing Simulators, of Oxfordshire, England.
