It marked the fifth-straight game, dating back to the first game of a doubleheader in New York on Tuesday, in which the Blue Jays scored first but couldnt hold the lead. Edwin Encarnacion (32,) J.P. Arencibia (20,) and Brett Lawrie (10) hit home runs for Toronto. Ryan Goins, a 25-year-old native of Round Rock, Texas, made his major league debut and went 2-4 with a single and a double. He had family and friends in the stands and enjoyed playing in a stadium where he attended games growing up. "Playing your first game, somewhere youve been, you know the surroundings, you know what it looks like so I think it was good," said Goins. Todd Redmond (1-2, 4.44) took the loss, allowing seven earned runs over 3 1/3 innings. After the game, the Blue Jays optioned reliever Brad Lincoln to Triple-A Buffalo. WANG TO START SATURDAY Chien-Ming Wang will be recalled in time to make Saturdays start against the Astros. "Hes been up here, hes a seasoned vet," said manager John Gibbons. "He had some good starts for us. He was doing fine down there. Everything kind of fell in line." In five starts for the Blue Jays between June 11 and July 2, Wang went 1-1 with a 7.12 ERA. He went at least 6 1/3 innings in each of his first three outings but didnt escape the second in either of his final two appearances. In 17 Triple-A starts this season, nine with the Yankees affiliate in Scranton and eight with Buffalo, Wang is 8-7 with an ERA of 2.72. Even with rosters scheduled to expand on September 1, barring the unforeseen, Wangs stay in Toronto likely wont be a long one. "I think we just need that one start, the way its going to turn out with that doubleheader and that off day," said Gibbons. Mark Buehrle is scheduled to pitch Sundays finale in Houston. R.A. Dickey will open the Yankeees series in Toronto on Monday, thereby making Esmil Rogers available out of the bullpen this weekend. New Orleans Saints Store. BAUTISTAS FUNDRAISER Jose Bautista and a few of his teammates will be busy on Thursday, an off day, taking part in the first annual Jose Bautista Celebrity Golf Classic. Taking place at Eagles Nest in Maple, the days proceeds will go toward the Bautista Family Educational Fund, a charity Bautista founded in 2011 to help young amateur athletes access higher education. Bautistas focus is his native Dominican Republic, although the foundations work has extended to Canada. "For your typical kid from the Dominican Republic that comes from the poorer part of society, which is 80-percent of the population down in the Dominican, its not like they have a lot of options," said Bautista. "A lot of them, when they dont play sports, they have to start working at a very early age. The ones who are able to play sports and end up being good at them, most of the time they get pulled out of school to go to one of those boarding houses that house a lot of players and try to groom them into becoming the next professional baseball player." Some kids see baseball as their only way out of poverty. Bautista knows their chances of making the big time arent good. He wants to give them an alternative. "From the kids that drop out of school (to focus on baseball) its less than three percent, the success rate after that three percent signs in professional baseball is about the same getting to the big leagues and establishing themselves." Bautista says hed have liked to have started the annual golf outing earlier but because the foundation relies, in part, on corporate investment, it had to clear hurdles with the NCAA to ensure beneficiaries could maintain amateur status. Edwin Encarnacion, Jose Reyes, Brett Lawrie and J.P. Arencibia are among the Blue Jays who will participate in the golf day on Thursday. ' ' '
