Select the USB device from the list near the upper-right corner of the GParted window and detect where it was mounted: /dev/sd[1 letter] (mine was /dev/sdc ). dd bs=4M if=/path/to/archlinux.iso of=/dev/sdx & sync Utilities like UNetbootin and the Windows 7 USB Tool work around this problem by Install MultiBootUSB - Windows and Linux Test ISO and USB with QEMU option Write ISO images directly to a USB disk (GUI for Linux dd command).
